Portfolio Reviews with Mark Citret

Mark Citret

Take advantage of this opportunity to have your work critiqued by master photographer Mark Citret. Mark is from the Bay Area and is part of the West Coast school, with roots going back to Ansel in the 1970’s. He is collected and shown and published widely, and as a long-time workshop instructor has critiqued thousands of images.

A critique by an experienced photographer is an important step in the evolution of your art and craft. They will point out aspects of your technique that are working well, and identify those areas that could use improvement. A good critique serves as a kind of benchmark, letting you know where you are in your own development and within the larger community of photographers. The discussion is often a catalyst for ideas about the essence and direction of your work, and the possibilities for getting your work into the public eye.

Portfolio reviews will happen concurrently with the presentations throughout the weekend. They will be limited to fifteen participants, available by pre-registration on a first-come first-served basis. There will be a sign-in sheet at the registration desk for specific time slots.

Digital Photography with Craig Moore

In some ways, digital technology has simplified photography, but for those of us who are technologically challenged, switching to digital can be overwhelming. Did you ever wish you could sit down with someone and have them show you how to operate your new camera? Or ask them how to work with RAW files? Need someone to explain about resolution and compression?

Craig Moore is who you're looking for. He is well-known for his popular digital photography classes at Gordon’s Photo Service in Reno. Students appreciate the relaxing, non-intimidating, and fun atmosphere of his classes. This year, Craig will be available to work with Shooting the West participants to help you overcome whatever challenges you're facing in digital photography. These one-on-one sessions are a rare opportunity to get personalized attention from a professional instructor.
